A Fragmented Past

Hail has no memory of his childhood or early life growing up in Warsaw, Poland, only of the orphanage that raised him in his adolescence where he met his closest friend Saša Gelnika. The two were separated when a Special Ops mission funded by EXOSPHERE recruited Saša and departed Europe. Hail eventually traveled to Marseille, France to study and find work.

Hail is a vibrant and energetic person but has continually struggled throughout his life with memories that seem to fragment or otherwise disappear. He is generally a creature of solitude and often requires substantial amount of alone time to feel at peace as he attempts to make sense of the world around him.

Some years later, he took a partner named Kilton Reiss, a notorious and influencial business mogul, who admired Hail for his imagination and ambition. Kilton proposed to help Hail in bringing his career to great heights under the condition he would love no other. In striking this bargain, Kilton revealed himself to be a powerful Aternal demon called Antistrophe. He was a brutal partner, but he kept true to his promises and Hail saw a great deal of success and a degree of fame as a game designer and streamer. Headlines were not always kind to the pair of them, but the stories never stayed in the public eye for very long. Like Hail’s memories, they seemed to disappear. There was someone, however, that did not lose sight of them…

The pact between Hail and Kilton was broken years later when Hail attempted a secret romance with Arjun Maheswari, a journalist who had been following his career and his relationship for some time. They met in Mersailles, France where they both attended the Provence Games Week event.

Hail is the only known human to have survived the wrath of Antistrophe thanks to Arjun's Dream Telepathy, which roused him from a severe coma induced by the Antistrophe’s torment after the broken pact. Another phenomenon occurred when he awoke: A long dormant ability to harness the force of gravity awakened within him. Antistrophe disappeared thereafter, fearing forces were involved that he hadn’t anticipated and could not control.

Hail would go on to marry Arjun in India and later adopted a baby Dalmatian who they named Hubble.

Hail is the counterpart to Kala, also called his “consort” or the “Arbiter of Gravity”.
