A Fragmented Past

Hail has little memory of his childhood or early life in Warsaw, Poland, mostly seeing flashes of people and events he doesn’t recognize. The only true consistency he knows is growing up alongside his closest friend Saša Gelnika. The two were separated in their late teenage years when a Special Ops mission funded by EXOSPHERE recruited Saša and departed Europe. Hail eventually traveled to Arles, France to study and find work as a game writer and artist, though mostly remaining a creature of solitude and requiring substantial amount of alone time to feel at peace as he attempted to make sense of the world around him.

Some years later, he took a partner named Kilton Reiss, a wealthy and influential criminal attorney, who admired Hail for his imagination and ambitions. Though Hail grew a fierce affection for Kilton, he always felt a degree of suspicion that someone of such stature would take an interests in his life. Kilton, though always commanding and possessive, encouraged Hail to seek greater heights both personally and professionally and in many ways was just the spark that Hail needed to reach his most striking successes.

Kilton revealed himself to be a powerful Aternal demon called Antistrophe. He was a brutal partner, but he kept true to his promises and Hail saw a great deal of success and a degree of fame as a game designer and streamer. Headlines were not always kind to the pair of them, but the stories never stayed in the public eye for very long. Like Hail’s memories, they seemed to disappear. There was someone, however, that did not lose sight of them…

The pact between Hail and Kilton was broken years later when Hail attempted a secret romance with Arjun Maheswari, a journalist who had been following his career and his relationship for some time. They met in Mersailles, France where they both attended the Provence Games Week event.

Hail is the only known human to have survived the wrath of Antistrophe thanks to Arjun's Dream Telepathy, which roused him from a severe coma induced by the Antistrophe’s torment after the broken pact. Another phenomenon occurred when he awoke: A long dormant ability to harness the force of gravity awakened within him. Antistrophe disappeared thereafter, fearing forces were involved that he hadn’t anticipated and could not control.

Hail would go on to marry Arjun in India and later adopted a baby Dalmatian who they named Hubble.

Hail is the counterpart to Kala, also called his “consort” or the “Arbiter of Gravity”.
