Aternals are beings of shadow, sharing almost no common trait beyond their pitch-black skin; in total darkness they can shift into nearly any form that suits them. Most regard them as ruined lifeforms given over to madness and depravity.
MAZHRAN’S LINEAGE
When lesser angels wandered beyond the reach of the First Light, the neglect of their sovereign turned them into the faded, often crude and monstrous creatures of the dark: the Aternals. Though for many an age they waited in their own exile within the Bastion of Solum, eventually a new and formidable leader from the angelic citadels joined them. Layl, a lesser angel chosen by Antistrophe himself, commanded them thus and succumbed to similar mutations in the distant darkness. Though the dwellers of Solum recognized his might, they forbade him his birth name and called him Mazhran, the Great Rebellion. Mazhran, in turn, claimed them as his own lineage.
